ELiSE assistant is here to support you with your everyday tasks. You can use it to get quick answers on your files or collections, and to discuss and iterate on the subject at stake to get more precise and complete responses.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Input selection

For the assistant to work, you need to select at least one file.

Default selection

ELiSE assistant is available at all time, but we recommend opening it within a project, or at least from a collection.

When a context is found, files within it are selected by default as potential sources. In consequences, if the assistant is opened from a file, it will only consider this file to answer the questions, and if the assistant is opened from a project, all files accessible in the project will be included in the input.

Manual selection

If the selected files do not match your needs, you can change the selection.

  1. Click on 'Input'.
  2. popup will open. Explore your collections and select files and/or collections.
  3. Once your selection is complete, click on ‘Validate’.
  4. You can now proceed with your discussion.

Mentions

You can use '@' to mention a file or a collection directly within the chat.

  1. Write your demand in the chat, for example 'Summarize'
  2. Type @
  3. Select a file or a collection in the list, or continue writing the name of the desired item to narrow the list
  4. The file or collection is selected, you can proceed with your discussion

Mentioned inputs allow to:

  • precise a request within a collection, for example to get information about one or two documents only
  • expand the scope of the discussion by adding documents that were not included in the default input

Discussion

For now, the assistant is capable of:

  • searching an information within files
  • searching a file matching a criteria
  • answering questions based on one or several files.

Start a conversation

To start a conversation:

  1. Click on the assistant button at the bottom right of your screen
  2. Select the inputs you need (files or collections)
  3. Write your question
  4. Click on 'enter' or on the send button

The assistant will display the steps of its reflexion.

If you want to modify your guideline or if the assistant is taking too long, you can stop the current step by clicking on the blue button (usual send button) at the bottom right.

If you need to start a new conversation, navigate to the needed context and click on the pencil icon at the top right of the screen. It will start a new session.

We recommend starting a new session when changing subject or context to make sure the assistant stays as accurate as possible.

After 20 minutes of inactivity, current conversation is stored in history and a new session is generated.

Success

When the search is successful, the assistant will provide a sourced answer. You can click on the references in the text or in 'Sources' to see all arguments used to justify the response.

Answers given by the assistant should always be sourced, except when they are purely conversational or when the expected answer is a document. For example, if your request looks like 'Which document(s) mentions...?', the assistant will return the document(s) entirely instead of arguments within the documents. Indeed, in this case, the assistant performs a search and not an actual question answering.

Error

There are three types of errors:

  • Outside of scope: your request is too advanced for the current capacities of the assistant
  • Nothing found: the search did not return any result; please try again with a more precise request
  • Unexpected error: an error occurred, either try again later or reach support if the issue persists

Explain

As the one in tasks, the explain option is also available on the assistant.

Each answer and reasoning can be explained by clicking on the question mark visible when hovering on the answer.

Copy/Paste answers

You can copy any answer, as well as its references.

If you paste the answer in an editable document, the references will be added in-text and in the bibliography with the right indexation.

History

When you start a new conversation, it is saved in your history with a brief title describing the topic of the conversation.

If you want to consult previous conversations, you can navigate to your history and open an old conversation to access all the messages and arguments. You can also continue this conversation.

It is possible to delete historic and current conversations.

When deleting a conversation, you definitively lose all answers and arguments.
