Templates are available in the Editor.
They are documents that can be used as base when starting to write a dynamic document.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Create a template
Manually
Any dynamic document can be saved as a template.
To do so, you need to open the dynamic document, click on the menu on the top-right and select "Save document as template".
You can then name your template and add a description (optional).
The template will be saved within your project and will be accessible when creating new dynamic documents.
From examples
You can automatically generate a template from end documents examples.
To do so, click on "New Template", name it, add a description (optional but highly recommended) and then select the option "From examples".
You will have to provide the example documents and your instructions to guide the template creation.
You can for example provide several systematic reviews already published and validated as a source to generate an outline for a systematic review and meta analysis.
You can then click on "Create template" and the template will be created with a running task on the bottom left.
The task should not take more than 5 minutes, but you can leave the page and come back later if needed.
When the task is complete and successful, you can click on it to see the details of the outline and potential guidelines created. If you are satisfied with the result, you can insert it into your document. You can also edit the guidelines before clicking "Insert".
If the task fails, an error message will be displayed; in that case you will need to restart the process.
After inserting the template into the document, you can modify and improve the template as much as needed, changes are saved automatically.
The template will be available when creating new dynamic documents.
From guidelines
It is also possible to generate a template from guidelines or from a previously saved template in your resources.
To do so, click "New Template", name it, add a description (optional but highly recommended) and then select the option "From guidelines".
You will have to provide the guideline documents and your instructions to guide the template creation.
For example, you can provide a journal template that explains on how to write a Title page that is publishable.
Just like with examples, the template will be created and you will be able to review and edit the proposed outline before inserting it.
Manage templates
Templates are available from the Editor, below the dynamic documents.
When you select a template, a preview of the outline and the document is displayed on the right.
If you have the permissions, meaning you are admin, the owner of the template or have at least WRITE permission on the project, you can:
- rename a template
- edit it
- duplicate it
- delete it.
